The Weinrieb Law Firm has represented clients in thousands of cases in Van Nuys over the past 20 years ranging from misdemeanors like simple DUIs to the most complex and highly publicized criminal trials, and in recent times we’re seeing an influx of charges related to violent crimes and therefore clients reaching out to our firm for help.

Aside from the data we’re seeing internally based on intakes, articles in the news also substantiate such and the recent shooting outside of a donut shop in Van Nuys validates that along with many other incidents and clients we’re guiding.

Looking at the Van Nuys donut shop murder in particular, according to MSN, “Los Angeles Police Department officers from the department’s Van Nuys Station responded at 12:35 a.m. Saturday to the 16000 block of Vanowen Street between Woodley and Gloria avenues regarding a shooting. When they arrived, the officers learned the victim was standing by his vehicle outside a donut shop when he was approached by two suspects, who fired several shots at him, an LAPD spokesman told City News Service.”

Unfortunately, “the victim was struck by the gunfire and pronounced dead at the scene by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics.”

As both members of the community and representing clients in a wide range of criminal cases in the Van Nuys Courthouse, it’s unfortunate to see where the neighborhood is headed but also the world as a whole, and many times charges people are facing aren’t accurate.
