With school shootings on the rise in the past couple of weeks it’s no surprise that parents, students and the community in general was alarmed when shots rang out at Ulysses S. Grant High School resulting in one victim being injured.

“Our student is currently in stable condition and receiving treatment at a nearby hospital. It’s a sad day when our children are exposed to community violence,” LAUSD’s Superintendent and School Board President stated in a joint announcement.

Authorities believe the drive-by shooting was gang related and it’s another sign of how violent crimes are on the rise in Van Nuys, the San Fernando Valley and Los Angeles County in general.
