As leading criminal defense attorneys in California we keep a close eye on all cases, especially those that hit home, and after defending cases in the Van Nuys criminal court for over 30 years we thought it would be helpful to touch on this case because it’s in our backyard.
In a nutshell, this incident stems from “A Los Angeles County jury found socialite Rebecca Grossman guilty Friday on all five charges, including murder, in the deaths of two young boys who were struck in a Westlake Village crosswalk by Grossman’s car in 2020,” as stated by NBC Los Angeles.
According to various news articles, Grossman is facing a total of five charges including two counts of murder, two counts of vehicular manslaughter and one count of felony hit-and-run causing death. We have defended clients facing all of these charges in Van Nuys, though every case is different and therefore requires unique attention to specific details.
The murder trial, which took place at the Van Nuys criminal courthouse, ended in Grossman being convicted on two counts each of murder and vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence and one felony count of hit-and-run driving.
In the end, the jury deliberated for nearly two days to hand down the verdict to the defendant and Grossman could face up to 34 years to life in state prison. Sentencing is set for April 10, 2024.
